Citipati Mala - Dee6 Antler/Horn Carved Skulls Beads - Medium - Beige/Tan Tones - Rare - Tantra

This is an extremely rare Deer Antler/Horn skull carved Citipati mala with a Deer Antler/Horn Citipati Guru Bead. This style of quite mala is rare, high quality, and difficult to find. I picked this up from a small shop in the Patan area of Kathmandu. This is the "Artistic" district known for high quality statues and other artisan items. The skull beads are hand carved, finely detailed, and very intricate with a beautiful even beige bone coloring. The Deer Antler guru bead is one unified piece and has a double dorje carved on both sides.

I found the skull antler beads as a "necklace" sold as a mala. However, it did not have a traditional guru bead. When I returned from Nepal this year, I source the deer antler guru bead from one of my trusted sources. I re-strung the mala with the new guru bead and sliding knot.

The skull beads vary a bit in color tone, size, and form. However, all 108 beads are carved into small human skulls from Deer Antler. These Citipati beads are aligned in the same direction throughout the mala and have a somewhat inconsistent shape and sizing. This adds to the handmade nature of this item. Excellent for Tantra Ceremony, wrathful mantra practice, or as a gift to yourself, your dharma teacher, or friend.

The total length of the mala laid flat from the top to the bottom of the guru bead is about 23.50 inches or about 59.69cm. The total length of the Citipati Mala is 25.50 inches or 64.77cm to the bottom of the mala cords. On average the skull beads are about 10.5mm long, about 8mm width, and about 8mm thick. However, please note there is a good amount of variety in the size and shape of these beads.
This mala is a bit on the smaller size compared to other malas I have listed. I re-laced this mala using one strand of 1 mm black nylon cord for strength and durability and also added the Deer Antler guru bead. This is finished with a sliding knot to adjust the tension of the mala.
