Yak Bone Carved Skull Citipati Mala - Bone Guru Bead - Unique Quality - Tantra Item
This style of Yak Bone Skull carved mala is quite unique and high quality. Made from 108 beads carved from Yak Bone, this mala also has a complimenting Yak Bone Guru Bead. I picked this up from a dealer in the Boudhanath Stupa marketplace area of Kathmandu. The skull beads are elegantly hand carved, ornate, and extremely unique. The smaller size reflects the quality and skill of the craftsmanship. The coloring is a beige/tan bone tone. The bone white/beige Guru Bead is also yak bone and creates a clean and smooth appearance. This is a powerful and beautiful mala.
The skull beads vary a bit in color tone, size, and form. However, all 108 beads are carved into small human skulls and are consistent is size with a cylindrical form. This adds to the value and appearance.
This mala is not so large and is perfect for wearing. The total length of the mala laid flat from the top to the bottom of the guru bead is about 22.00 inches or about 55.88cm. From the top to the end of the Mala cords is 23.50 inches or 59.69cm. On average the skull beads are about 10.5mm in length, about 8.5mm width, and about 7.5mm thick. This one is laced with a double strand of black nylon cord for strength and durability. Additionally, this mala has a sliding knot to adjust for the tension of the skull beads.
Excellent for Tantra Ceremony, wrathful mantra practice, or as a gift to your dharma teacher or friend.
