This is a rare smaller sized Bodhi Seed Mala with a lovely dark brown color (the beads are a bit darker than showning in the images). The beads are slightly trimmed and are uniform in shape. I picked up a number of Malas from a dealer who only sells Bodhi Seed Malas at Boudhanath Stupa in Kathmandu. I met him again earlier this year when I returned to Nepal for Pilgrimage and Buddhist practice. I am offering one of the malas I purchased directly from him.
The height of the beads are 9.5mm to 10mm on average. The length of the Mala is 20.00 inches or 50.80cm. The distance from the top past the guru bead to the bottom of the decoration beads is 22.00 inches or 55.88cm. The mala has a very striking appearance and a strong presence. The deep dark brown color is consistent as are the shape of the beads. This is a high quality and beautiful Bodhi Seed mala.
Bodhicitta malas sized at 10mm is considered "small" and are hard to find in higher quality condition. Anything smaller than 10mm is rare to find and acquire. This mala certainly falls in the "small and rare" category. Additionally, this mala has consistent coloration, uniformly shaped beads, and the structure of the beads are full and complete with little-to-no damage or cracks. This is one of only a few Bodhi Seeds malas at this rare size and level of quality.
The 3-Eye Bodhi Seed Guru Bead is harmoniously round at 16mm and is matching in color. There are 4 bodhi seeds (2 on each end-tail) that make up the decorations at the end of the mala cord. These prayer beads are laced with a single loop of red nylon cord and has a braided sliding knot to adjust tension.
