This is rare and unique 108 bead Buddhist Prayer Beads Mala made from Woolly Mammoth tusk ivory and sized 8mm with a lovely ivory color. The beads are made with exceptionally high quality Mammoth Ivory. The 10mm guru bead is crafted from the more rare "Blue Spot" Mammoth Ivory. This mala also has three 10mm spacers beads made from Woolly Mammoth tooth. A Woolly Mammoth mala of this caliber is incredibly rare. This is the first time I am able to offer a mala such as this one.
The quality of this mala is exceptional. The beads are consistent is size and the feel is soft and smooth. Mammoth Ivory is known and identified for the cross hatched patterning call "Schreger Line." Mammoth ivory is found in Alaska, Canada, Russia, or Siberia, and can range in age from 10,000 to 200,000 years. Colors may vary in shades of tan, cream, and brown.The criss-cross stripped patterning of this material is truly exquisite. The overall length of the Mala is approximately 17.0 inches or 43.2 centimeters from the top of the mala to the bottom of the guru bead. The length to the rnd of the cord tails is 18.50 inches or 47.75 cm. This Buddhist prayer mala is very light as is the nature of ivory. This mala is strung on a Golden Yellow 1mm nylon braided cord with an adjustable sliding knot to control the tension and slack. This helps when using Mala Counters and Bhum Counters.
